In addition to our regular debate nights, we like to get together for some socials! Our social events, which we simply call “socials,” offer members a chance to connect, relax and enjoy each other's company. On average, we host two socials per month, ranging from lavish events to smaller, more intimate gatherings. Participation is not mandatory, but of course it is a lot of fun! We offer a variety of socials, with a few favorites returning annually.
First Years Weekend
This weekend getaway, held in October/November somewhere in the Netherlands, is designed for new members to get to know each other better. While the focus is on first years, older members are also invited to join in the fun. The whole weekend is packed with fun activities such as a talent show, outdoor games and much more!
Sports social
Although we proudly practice debate sports, sometimes it is also nice to stretch our legs. At least once a year we go to a sports field to play basketball, tennis, soccer, you name it! Show that in addition to being verbal, you can also beat everyone physically.
Gala
Around Christmas, Bonaparte always holds its own gala. Put on your best clothes and eat the most delicious food! We alternate by sometimes celebrating together in the same location and sometimes celebrating the gala in small groups at people's homes to make this event even more personal.
Abroad Weekend
This is our second weekend getaway of the year. Get ready to party with your new Bonaparte friends in Germany, Belgium or England! In past years we have been to Leuven (Belgium), Aachen (Germany) and Lille (France).
Collabs
Of course, we don't keep all the fun to ourselves, but rather try to spread it as much as possible! We do this by also organizing activities together with other student associations, debate related or not. Examples from this year are ice skating with Particolarte, Bouldering with A.S.V. Gay and, as you can see on the picture to the right, robbing the Leidsche Debatclub!
