As the largest student debate association, ASDV Bonaparte hosts several tournaments each year. Most of them are also open for non-members and attract even international attention. Bonaparte also regularly sends teams to tournaments of other associations, both inside and outside the Netherlands. Here is a brief overview of the tournaments organised by ASDV Bonaparte:
Amsterdam Open
This is the largest debate tournament in all of the Netherlands. Last year we hosted over 200 participants, coming from all over the world to debate, judge or help us organise. The tournament is held in the BP format in English.
NK Eloquentia
The Dutch Eloquentia Championship is the only tournament in the Eloquentia format in the entire world! Win over the judges with your charm, quirky stories, and, of course, your eloquence. Bonapartian Debate Tournament (BDT)
The BDT is one of the few debate tournaments in the Netherlands in the AP format, and it is exclusively in Dutch. Although Bonaparte itself has become a lot more international in recent years, we still find it very important to keep Dutch debating alive and well. We also encourage internationals to learn to debate in Dutch, which is why we now have a Dutch-as-a-second-language track at BDT.
Family and Friends Tournament
Once a year we host an in-house tournament for Bonapartians where they can debate with their friends and family. This is the perfect opportunity to share your favourite hobby with your loved ones.
