Meet the 26th board of ASDV Bonaparte. A number of board members have unfortunately quit through the year, but we have also been able to hire new ones so that we now have six motivated board members.
These four students, one working and one future student are committed day in and day out to making Bonaparte better.
Saskia Bergmann – Chair
Saskia is now in her third year on the board and is the glue that holds this 26th board together. She joined the group later on to help the brand new board out and she has succeeded very well. With her leadership, knowledge of the debate world and her strong attitude, she has led this board to be the most successful in recent years.
Kai Stouthart – Secretary/Vice-chair
Kai is a dedicated law student, complimenting the board with his knowledge of systems and practices and his attitude to make things work well. As secretary, his contributions to this society in the form of, for example, this beautiful website and improved by-laws will make a good impact for a long time. Most importantly, however, he will forever be known as the board member that went to more than 10 constitution Borrels representing our society and used his martial arts skills to win us many many gifts from other boards.
Joie Rouwendaal – Treasurer
Joie, is simply a wizard with numbers, and known for her kind and welcoming energy. She has been a long standing member of Bona and stepped up to the plate to be an excellent addition to the team as our new Treasurer. She keeps the books but also lightens the mood with her fun and endless supply of fun stories. From our holiday budgets to preparing for big tournaments she has been at the heart of things making sure people have the best time and within budget. Team players are hard to find, Joie just turned out to be one of the best ones.
Daan Zieren – Debate Commissioner
Daan is a passionate debater and debate trainer. Besides his job as debate trainer, he helps Bonaparte by setting up training programs so that members can develop. He accompanies delegations to tournaments nationally and internationally and strives to get as many people to go to tournaments as possible. He also raises money for the clubs by offering courses to external parties. Daan lives in The Hague and is now 22 years old.
Shaun McQuiston – PR Commissioner
Shaun, with a background in HR and known for his humor and a thing with a dog and a hoodie, joined the board in the beginning of this year. He makes sure to get us the best designs for our hoodies and (eventually) banners! Meanwhile, he is also the star of our Instagram, entertaining our followers with his amazing vlogs and behind-the-scenes. Conversations with Shaun are never boring and he always ensures to make people feel welcome. Last but not least, he is secretly a super good cook, keeping all the board members very happy during board hangouts!
TJ Gates – Social Commissioner
TJ, is one of the most wild and creative social commissioners this society has ever seen. He is known for his constant energy and passion for organizing events. Although a more recent member, TJ stepped up and had excelled in creating memorable events for all to experience. From IKEA Dinner to D&D Night, he makes sure that each Bonaparte Social is well representing of the society and is inclusive to everyone. It’s the little moments that matter, and TJ can make them happen.
